Most Commonly Asked CoolSculpting Questions

There are several straightforward questions many potential patients have. The first question is whether it is right for you or not. The best way to determine this is for you to come in for a consultation. From there it’s possible to determine what the best body contouring method is.

Another question is how many treatments are necessary. In general, each session will reduce fat coverage in the area by 20 to 25 percent. So, depending on your current situation it will likely be two to four sessions, although everyone is different.

Many people will ask if CoolSculpting is safe. Absolutely! It is FDA-approved to treat nine different areas of the body. Clinical trials have also pointed to the benefits of CoolSculpting.

You might wonder if there are side effects. There can be some minor ones, such as bruising and redness at the treatment site, some cramping, tinglings, stinging, and other basic skin sensations. These will go away in a short period of time.

How Does CoolSculpting Work?

During the treatment (which is outpatient and shouldn’t take more than an hour or two to get you in and out the door), you will either sit or lay down. A small, handheld device will be placed against the target area. When pressed to the skin you will feel a slight suction, followed shortly by a cooling sensation.

What CoolSculpting does is freeze the fat cells under the skin. By freezing the fat the cells will be cut off from blood and oxygen, which essentially chokes the life out of the fat cells. Eventually, the fat cells will die and then be processed by the body.

Does CoolSculpting Work?

cosmetic treatments for skin and bodyYes. CoolSculpting is an excellent way to contour the shape of your body and remove body fat in certain areas. However, it takes time to kill off the fat cells, so it might take several treatment sessions to obtain the desired results. Additionally, you need to listen to always keep in mind your diet. While fat cells will die and not grow back, other fat cells will still store excess calories you don’t burn during the day. This means remaining fat cells left in the treated area might expand back, taking up the previous cell’s place, or the fat might be stored elsewhere in the body. Due to this, make sure to follow all dietary and lifestyle requirements to ensure the longest-lasting body contour

Does CoolSculpting Hurt?

No, it does not. It is not invasive so you will not have any needles or lasers entering your skin. However, some interesting sensations might catch you off guard initially. There is a suction feeling when the procedure starts, and this can lead to some tugging or even mild pinching. You will also feel a strong cold sensation. Depending on the area and the surrounding muscles this might lead to a bit of cramping or even some muscle soreness. Other times itching might occur following the procedure.

Outside of some slight discomfort though you won’t feel any pain. It also gets better with each session as your body becomes more accustomed to the sensations.

How Long Does CoolSculpting Last?

It depends. First, it will take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months for complete results to become visible after a treatment session. Due to this, it might take you several sessions to see the desired results. But in terms of how long will the CoolSculpting last before you need to go back for additional body contour? There’s no one answer. Everyone is different. If you alter your dietary and lifestyle habits for the better it will reduce the chance of your body storing calories, which will reduce the chance of fat storage returning to the given area. It is also possible that even if you don’t make lifestyle changes fat storage will shift in your body and go to a different location.

If you do make the necessary changes the CoolSculpting results may last forever. If you make zero changes the results might last anywhere from several months to a few years.
