Trend Alert: What is a Daddy Makeover?

You may have heard of a “mommy makeover,” but what is a daddy makeover? A “daddy makeover” refers to a custom package of cosmetic procedures designed to help a man feel his most attractive and confident.

Most often, a daddy makeover helps a man look leaner, fitter, and rejuvenated. Just like how a mommy makeover helps women regain their pre-pregnancy figure, a daddy makeover helps a man recover from a “dad bod.”

The makeover is a custom package tailored to your aesthetic goals and needs. Since the goal is often to transform a “dad bod” into a leaner, more muscular-looking physique, a few popular procedures are most commonly included. In addition, some also opt for facial rejuvenation treatments to complete the look.

Five Types of Procedures Frequently Included in a Daddy Makeover

These five cosmetic procedures are not the only options for a daddy makeover. However, they are popular since each helps achieve the aesthetic goals many men want.

Tummy Tuck

During a tummy tuck, your surgeon removes excess fat and repairs the abdominal muscles. The result is a flatter and more toned-looking midsection. Many men feel more confident when they have a tighter, flatter tummy.

Often when someone loses significant weight, they have loose skin as the skin doesn’t tighten at the same rate as the fat loss. It can be frustrating to lose 50 or more pounds only to have muscle tone obscured by loose skin. A tummy tuck procedure also helps address this concern. During the tummy tuck, your surgeon removes excess skin for a taut look.

In addition to a classic tummy tuck, some men seek “abdominal etching” to enhance the definition of their abs.

Male Breast Reduction

If you feel self-conscious about “moobs” at the beach or pool, male breast reduction or gynecomastia reduction may resolve that issue. During this procedure, your surgeon removes excess fat and glandular tissue resulting in a flatter-looking chest.

While some see the results they want through liposuction; there is a genetic component to “moobs.” In addition, certain health conditions and medications can exacerbate the problem. More specialized surgery is often required to adjust the nipple area and remove excess glandular tissue aesthetically. This is one reason why surgery to address gynecomastia is often the best option.

Lipo 360 and Liposuction

During Liposuction 360, your provider removes body fat from the abdomen, waist or flanks, and back. The effect is a more sculpted look from 360-degree angles.

In addition to Lipo 360, other liposuction treatments may also be part of a custom-made daddy makeover package. Liposuction is frequently used to treat the following areas:

  • Chest
  • Back
  • Abdomen and waistline
  • Thighs
  • Upper arms
  • Hips and buttocks
  • Calves
  • Chin, cheeks, and neck

Although liposuction isn’t a substitute for a healthy diet and fat loss, it effectively removes limited amounts of fat from specific areas. As you know, you can’t always notice changes through diet and exercise as much as we often wish we could. The body releases fat based on genetics, hormones, and other factors. Through liposuction, we can permanently alter the body’s proportions to better meet aesthetic goals.

CoolSculpting® & CoolTone

While liposuction is less invasive than many other surgical procedures like a tummy tuck, the next two options are even less invasive. Non Surgical body sculpting technologies are improving. Two of the hottest (and most successful) options are CoolSculpting® and CoolTone™.

Both are non-invasive cosmetic procedures that help you achieve a leaner, more toned-looking physique. One targets fat loss, while the other strengthens the muscles.

CoolSculpting® is an FDA-Cleared, nonsurgical fat reduction treatment. The procedure leverages targeted cooling to destroy and eliminate unwanted fat from those trouble spots, including the abdomen, love handles, back, legs, and arms.

The technique is known as “cryolipolysis.” Your provider applies cold to targeted areas to break down specific fat cells. Since fat cells are very susceptible to cold temperatures, they freeze while other tissue remains undamaged.

While CoolSculpting® helps with fat loss, CoolTone™ tones the muscles. It uses an “Active Magnetic Pulse” to cause muscles to contract and become stronger. Some find that CoolTone™ helps those muscles that lag behind other muscle groups and are not as responsive to traditional exercise. CoolTone™ isn’t a substitute for workouts, but it helps you see results faster, especially in some of those stubborn areas.

BOTOX® & Facial Fillers

BOTOX® is an injectable treatment that helps smooth fine lines and expression wrinkles. Depending on the placement of the injections, it can also help relax the face into a pleasant, relaxed look.

It is a neurotoxin that temporarily relaxes facial muscles that cause expression lines and wrinkles. BOTOX® injections typically last a few months; to maintain the results, follow-up injections are needed.

Facial fillers are another injectable cosmetic procedure. The filler temporarily adds fullness or volume to specific areas of the face. As people age, the face loses volume due to fat loss and bone loss. This can lead to a gaunter-looking face and enhance sagginess and fine lines. Fillers can restore some of the fullness of youth, smooth fine lines, slightly lift, and subtly sculpt the face.

Both types of injectable treatments require a strategic application, an understanding of the face’s structure, and the aesthetic sense to inject just enough but not too much.
