Kevin L. Smith, M.D.

Dr. Smith has always enjoyed building things. And to rebuild or restore anything it takes an understanding of science and structure, but also aesthetics and artistry. It was this combination that led Dr. Smith to pursue plastic surgery as a career.

“I get the greatest joy from helping people improve the way they look and feel. For me, the most rewarding aspect is sharing in a patient’s happiness after their surgery. It never ceases to amaze me how much the physical improvement affects a person’s state of mind.”

Dr. Smith has a true passion for his career and he shares that excitement with his patients. He enjoys what he does and is always seeking the best techniques. But at the same time he and the other doctors at Charlotte Plastic Surgery make sure the procedures are tested and proven both safe and effective.

“Good plastic surgery isn’t seen. I want my patients to look so good and natural that nobody knows,” explains Dr. Smith. He attributes his success to multiple consultations and a sincere honesty with his patients. And during the healing process, he’s also there for patients almost like a coach helping everything go more smoothly.

Dr. Smith and his wife Deb, a registered nurse, are involved in international medical missions and have served extensively overseas. In fact, Dr. Smith is the founding vice president of Physicians for Peace with his mentor, Dr. Charles Horton. Physicians for Peace sends experts in medical fields to third world countries in need – not just to provide medical care, but to teach others how to provide it. Dr. Smith has traveled all over the world teaching others how to complete reconstructive surgeries. And Charlotte Plastic Surgery has trained 26 fellows from Greece, Romania, Syria, Turkey, Jordan and Egypt through their affiliation with this organization.
