Felmont F. Eaves III, M.D.
Dr. Eaves knew very early in life that he was destined to be a plastic surgeon. “Plastic surgery is an amazing blend of science on one hand and the relationships that we build with our patients on the other.” While working through his residency in plastic surgery, he became especially interested in endoscopic, minimally invasive plastic surgery. He went on to publish the first textbook on the topic, and lectures around the world to this day on this and many other topics within plastic surgery.
His dedication to this profession is what led him to not just be a part of plastic surgery organizations, but to lead them. Dr. Eaves currently serves as president of the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons. Although Dr. Eaves has received many awards, this is one of the highest professional honors that can be achieved. He doesn’t consider it an honor though; he considers it an opportunity.
As president of ASAPS, Dr. Eaves is a champion of several initiatives, including patient safety and evidence-based medicine. He is a strong advocate of process and systems improvement, as well as doctor and facility certifications.
When Dr. Eaves counsels his patients, he thinks of them as if they are family. He talks with each patient individually about his or her expectations and together they decide the right path. He hopes to be as much of a friend as he is a doctor.
As one of the most renowned plastic surgeons in America, Dr. Eaves chose Charlotte Plastic Surgery because “there is a culture here to do the best we can for patients. There’s a depth of training and experience among the surgeons here that’s hard to find anywhere else.”
Dr. Eaves is driven by an intellectual curiosity for a better way of doing things. Throughout his career he’s received a lifetime achievement award for his work in body contouring, pioneered less-invasive techniques, and received several patents for new tools that he developed.
Dr. Eaves is married and has three children. He enjoys playing the piano, digital photography and woodworking. His newest goal is to learn Portuguese.
